Prototype BMX stem

We love underground bike products and look to see some big things coming in the future from companies big and small.  A good friend by the name of John Stancliff sent over a new stem he has been working on and although the final product may look quite different than what you see here, it’s good to see a solid design that is built in the USA.Image may be NSFW.

This model presently made from 6061 aluminim is just a prototype at the moment and will likely be made from 7075 in production form.  So it should be lighter and a quite bit more refined.  Prototype products tend to be a bit rough around the edges and usually lack color in favor for a cool industrial raw look, such as seen here.

Other products in the production line works will include spiders, chain rings, chain tensioners, seat collars, and full gears with different option sizes and colors.  Most items should also transfer over to the MTN bikes as well as some specific to MTN as well.  And of course color ways and packages would be options as well.  John has great insight with what he is making and wants to keep the USA manufacturing.  In a world of large corporations and less product being produced domestically, its good to see people with talent and love for what they are doing bringing things to the table.  I have nothing wrong with items being made over seas.  You can find plenty of rock solid products from all over the world.  To me though sometimes having something from you home town is kinda like rooting for your home town football team.  Its a closer family of friends, a tighter niche, a sense of good ol’ home town pride.

There are options here for logo placement for what ever brand picks up the design.  Options could be had just about at any level they want.  Whats important here is making a solid product with pride.  What I like is the nice blend of modern with an intimate touch of old school flavor.

We are very excited to see future product coming from the skilled hands of John and what company picks up his designs.  Especially what the final product will look like and its weight.  What would you like to see.  Write down below in the comment box and tell John what you think.   Remember this is a rough concept so will likely change quite a bit.  But tell him what you want.
